January Challenge: BBC Sherlock’s missing scenes!
(example art by reapersun)
~Ends January 31st~
Our first big challenge of 2014 is Missing Scenes! These are scenes that were mentioned at some point or other anywhere in the BBC canon, but which we never got to see. A very good source for these is John’s blog; there are a wealth of unseen stories there, everything from the boys dressing as ninjas to Sherlock buying John beer. Of course anything mentioned on the show is fair game as well! Just be sure the scene you are depicting actually happened, and is not based entirely on fan speculation.
Anything from season 3 is also acceptable, as the season will have fully aired by the end of this challenge. However, keep in mind that many people may not have seen the episodes as promptly as you, so please put anything spoilery under a read more, or wait until the last week of the challenge to submit it, when we’ll be accepting all spoiler posts for S3.
Before starting on your piece, please read the full guidelines under the read more.
-You can include any pairing, any rating, any version* of Sherlock. If your artwork is explicit it’d be appreciated if you could put it under a preview or read more. We’re very flexible on content.
*If you want to use a different version of Sherlock, you can either use a missing scene from their source material or just draw a BBC missing scene with another version of Sherlock. Please explain the missing scene if it’s not from the BBC version since not all of our mods are familiar with every version.
-You can submit art (drawn/painted/etc), graphics/photo manips, cosplay, photography, or crafts. Photo manips should make an attempt to construct a new image from several sources and make creative modifications (meaning you can’t just paste a face onto a screencap). Here is a collection of manips that are on a level of modification (not quality) that we would accept. (Unfortunately, we’ve had to be more strict on manips and graphics lately since we’ve gotten a lot of them.) If your image happens to have fic attached to it, that’s great, but we will not be accepting purely fic submissions this time around.
Let’s Write Sherlock is a purely fic-based challenge group so we’d encourage you to try their challenges!
-We aren’t critical of quality! Whether you choose to push yourself and make something elaborate, or only have an hour or so and just want to participate, we love everything we get, even if we can’t include it for some reason! Also, don’t put your work down in your comments!
-Please create new art! We feel it’s missing the point of the challenges to accept old works.
-Limit of submissions: max 2
-How to submit: post it to your blog. Tag it “letsdrawsherlock” within the first five tags (you must do this when you post; if you edit in the tag later it generally doesn’t appear under the tag listing). You can also send us your post ID via askbox.
How posting works: all of our mods track the tag “letsdrawsherlock” and we queue entries periodically from there. We don’t doublecheck any entry once it’s queued, so if you make a change to an older entry, be sure to send us a note about it to make sure we get the correct one.
